We all know the theory that ghosts use energy to manifest and this may cause a disturbance in the EMF (Electro Magnetic Field). I decided to practice using my EMF Detector and wanted to put up the images to illustrate important tips and hints while on a ghost hunt.

First of all, get the basic reading. The basic reading is after the 'point' and usually 'point' one or point 2 and even a point 3. If you do a sweep around the house, it is the low reading you get all the time. In the case of my house I got a 'point one' nearly all the time, so I was able to set this as my base reading or basic reading:

Then, while doing your sweep, it is a good idea to go to electrical plugs so you can find out how the readings go, this will be extremely helpful as EMF detectors detect human-made electrical appliances as well, so if you rule them out as to where they are, then if you get an anomalous reading and there is nothing electrical nearby, you can tell if it is paranormal or not.
For example, when going to a plug that is charging my handycam battery, I got a reading of 1.0, which I hope you guys can see, as the pic came out a bit dark...oops! Laughing

Also, I was getting a strange reading right in the fireplace! Ghosts in the fireplace, I asked myself?Laughing Highly unlikely! I checked the wall behind the fireplace and I found a plug outlet to the refrigerator AND the microwave oven and discovered that this was producing the 'spike' (or higher reading) in the fireplace! Very Happy

Unusual 'point six' spike in fireplace:

The culprit plug outlet on the other side of the fireplace:

Readings when near the microwave:

Finally I went to a normal electrical switch to see what readings it would give me. This is what I got when the light switch was off:

When I turned the light on, however, this is the spike I got:

So, this concludes this little 'tutorial'. Remember, when using an EMF detector that electrical appliances do count, as well as any electrical energy source. Make a sweep of the place with the lights on, and then when going 'lights off' make another sweep to get base readings. Then any anomalous spike you get, that cannot be readily explained, will most likely be paranormal!

Happy hunting! Very Happy

Excellent tip on the light off, lights on. I would have probably gone through the house with the lights on and did my base readings and recorded them. Then I would have gone lights out. So my readings would have been completely wrong.

Fantastic educational aid. We all need to jot these things down. We think we know but in all the excitement of a ghost hunt we forget these little things.

Patty, (GM) thank you for the time you put in each and everyday for this site and your members. I appreciate you so much.
